Providant Living!

Today we had our relief Society lesson on provident living. Which I thought was perfect because we just sold our beloved Bumblebee. We realized that with the dramatic wage decrease from Eugene to Rexburg we really could not afford to keep "our baby" if we wanted to save money and survive. So we are going to be walking and biking it everywhere in Rexburg. I was walking home from church today and like 5 families stopped to see if I wanted a ride. It was super nice of them but Jeez we live like 5 blocks away. It is uphill but my feet work. Lots of our neighbors have said, "well, that's too bad you don't have a car, we are sorry for you"! Don't be sorry for us. We are excited to be able to get more exercise in and rexburg really isn't that big. We can walk anywhere we want to in the town. Plus my parents sent me my bike so once we get Jacob one we can bike anywhere.

Scenic River Race

Today was our 2nd 5K in two weeks. We were so happy because we beat our last time by 6 minutes and 2 second. I thought that was a pretty big improvement. Now granted this one was not uphill and so I was expecting to improve. It was in Idaho Falls (about 30 minutes from us) on the greenbelt of the Snake River. We don't have any pictures of the path because we can't find our camera but our neighbor wanted to bring her 9 year old twin girls and so she was able to take pictures for us.
All the racers at the starting line.

These last two picture are of us on our way in. We were excited because we could see how far ahead we were of our last time. We are hoping to approve even more by the Liberty 5K on the 4th of July. It was supposed to rain, but it was so nice. While waiting for Jacob's award I got sun burnt on my face.
Passing the finish line!Without this man I would not be able to do any of this. One day I signed us up for 5 races and he has been so supportive. I can't wait until we have lost so much weight by next year that we can do the marathon.

Jacob got a silver medal because he place second in his age group. My man is a winner, which I already knew! I was 4th in my age group and missed getting a medal by 4 minutes. I was a little sad, but I don't need a medal to tell me I am a winner. LOL!
This is our friend Matthew we met after the race. He was so excited that he finished and you should have seen his face when he went up to get his medal.

We love you ABBIE!!!!!!!

I have to get this post finished before midnight or I would be the worst aunt in the world. Since we are so far away I try to call the kids on their birthday but with school and work I sometimes forget pretty important things. I forgot to call Abbie today and feel awful. It is miss Abbie's third birthday. She is sweet, funny, kind, energetic, cute and a blessing to our family.

Abbie we love you so much and miss you a ton too. We can't wait to see you over thanksgiving. I am sure you will talk our ears off.

I love these two pictures of Abbie and her uncle Mike.
Abbie is a great big sister to her little miss Aubrie.

She was in my nursery and we had so much fun.

It is hard to believe she was ever a baby.
Eating cake on her first birthday.

We went to go see her in the hospital and she was such a good sport.

Throwback Thursday!

It is Thursday again! I decided it would be fun to do this and this way I will at least post once a week. For throwback Thursday all you do is post a picture from the past and write a little something about it. Anyone who wants to can join me with their own Throwback Thursday and relive old memories. This is a picture if me as a wee one. I always liked going to my Grandpa's store at the Black Lake RV park in Washington. I have many memories from spending time with family there. It is not hard to believe that I loved otter pops then, because I still love them now. Although I can't eat them now because they have too much sugar so they make me sick.

The Teton Dam Marathon race

Jacob already posted but I thought I would too. We did the annual Teton Dam Marathon on Saturday. WE did the 5K. I did not realize that the firs 1.7 miles was straight uphill. We made it though and that is all that matters.
This is a quick picture of me before I started, we only have 5 minutes to get to the start so I told Jacob to take it quick.

I decided to start running with everyone, that only lasted a few blocks up the hill. I am not in good enough shape to run the whole way.
This is after all the hills, when I could see a sight of the downhill. It was a really pretty route.
Right after I crossed the finish line! :)
I am one super woman!
Jacob and I at the finish, he did the whole race with me. We didn't pay for him in enough time so he was just going to do it on the sidewalk, but there were lots of people who didn't pay so I told him just to get on the road.
Us again
Showing off my medal, I was pretty excited.

Danielle and I walked our first 5K!! She is so amazing!

This weekend I walked the 5K with Danielle, the walk was awesome. I felt kinda bad at first, because we were gonna pay the entry fee for me to walk it also. However, when we went to get Danielle's packet the day before the race (this is when we decided that I would walk it too). They said that the entry deadline had ended the day before at midnight ; {

I then asked them if I could just ask walk it with her and they said that they don't like people do that they actually have a name for them (they call them pirates people who walk without paying). The reason that they don't like folks to do that is cause the entry fee goes to pay for the water/energy goo stations, police assistance, and the ton of water, fruit, chocolate milk etc. that is available at the end of the race. Also it pays for the medal that Danielle received.

K so I was just gonna walk on the sidewalks along the side so that I could still do it with Dani, then when the started Dani said come on it's fine there are a lot of people that don't have a shirt or numbers. So I walked it with her and it was a really fun experience. The first 1.7 miles was entirely uphill. However, the view of all of all the rolling hills, was extremely beautiful.

Danielle and I are also going to be walking a 5K this Saturday the 20th and then another one on the 4th of July. Then on July 18th were doing a 10K and then in September we plan on doing a 1/2 Marathon. We are super stoked and can't wait to keep doing more races. We love doing them now and they are a huge motivator. We decided that yes they do cost money however, we'd rather spend money on the entry fees than on eating out or other crap that we'd been wasting money on. Sorry that this has been super long but I had to tell everyone. I am so proud of Danielle and I know that y'all are too.

I personally wanna give a shot out to my sister-in-law Andrea Schwake. Part of me knows that Andrea's recent Marathon or 1/2 Marathon (Sorry Andrea I couldn't remember if you did a half or a full) has definitely inspired Dani and I to start doing them as well. I love My Amazing Wife so much and am so proud of her for doing the 5K yesterday. Thanks for reading and hopefully this will be the first of many contributions to come on our blog from me!!!

Proof that I have not played softball in ten years!

Yep, that's a softball size welt on my left wrist, well right up the arm from the wrist. I was taking a fly ball, and it was a little short and low and I did not guess it right. Coach said, "Danielle, your supposed to watch the ball in." I was thinking, "Well Duh!" Anywho, I thought I would post my pain. It hurt so bad I almost started tearing up.

I am an official DAM MARATHON RACER !

I was able to pick up my race packet today at city hall. Well I am really walking the 5K, but Jacob and I decided that next year we are either going to do the half or the full marathon. So wish me luck, I have to do it on my own without my honey because you have to be signed up to race and we did not get him signed up on time. Anyway, we will post pictures after it is over on Saturday. This will make up for me missing the Butte to Butte.

Has it really been ten years!

I can not believe it has been 10 years since I have played any kind of softball. It has been a long time since I have done this.................or this..............You would have thought I was new player. It doesn't make it any better that our teacher is a ex-pro baseball player. He played for the Padres and the Twins. Anyway, he called me a beginner and I was about to slug him. It is o.k. though he and I go way back, well one semester. He is one of my favorite teachers hence I keep taking classes from him. I am going to be so good by the time the class is over that he is going to want me to try our for the Olympics. LOL.
